High Adventure 2023 Planning
Location: Mr. Dickinson’s House Address: 1990 Los Altos Drive, San Mateo, CA 94402 Date: 12/18/22, 4-5:30 Calling all Scouts who are VERY LIKELY to take part in a summer 2023 High Adventure trip. Scouts should be 13+ by the end of the 2022/23 school year in order to take part. The trip will take place between mid July and mid August 2023. The trip is likely to be lower cost/closer to home since we went to Alaska in 2022 and are likely to be having a larger trip, such as going to a BSA base in 2024. The purpose of the meeting is to make a decision about the type and location of the 2023 High Adventure trip, or at least to get to a short-list needing further investigation. Options include (but aren’t limited to):Backpacking 50 milerHorse packing 50 milerMulti-day canoe tripPack rafting (backpacking/rafting) *** If you want to be a part of the 2023 High Adventure trip but can’t make this time/date. Service Project: Rotary Roses – De-Leafing

May reschedule to Jan 7 *** Rescheduled due to previous weather related cancellation. *** Annual Service Project to help our Chartered Organization, Foster City Rotary Club. Need to have a good turnout for this event; this is our way of saying thank you to our sponsor! We will be de-leafing the rose bushes in front of the Rec Center. Bring water, sun protection, thick gardening gloves if you have them. Wear long pants, long sleeved top, both will potentially get plucked by thorns so wear something old. Sign in on arrival, sign out when you leave.

Cooking and Serving 120 Meals for Homeless: On November 12th, Troop 175 and Troop 4175 made 120 meals for LifeMoves which support our community homeless. The troops would like to thank Nony Lukito-Lim for providing financial support for the food that the troops cooked and served.

Cooking Competition Campout

Judged meals will be Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Dessert on Saturday. Meals will be judged on flavor, presentation, MyPlate adherence (over the day’s meals), variety of cooking methods used, kitchen organization and cleanliness, teamwork, cost and waste. Backpacking 12-20 Miler
Date/Time: Sun, Nov 20, 2022 · 8:00 AM Location: TBD Details: SCOUT LEAD NEEDED For those who enjoyed our short backpacking trip in September, come along for a slightly longer hike (pending planning) hopefully a cool location over two nights and three days. Location possibilities: Sierra foothills, Henry Coe SP, Point Reyes NS. Friday: Drive to trailhead, hike 2-3 miles to Camp 1Saturday: 5-10 miles to camp 2Sunday: 5-10 miles return to trailhead. Usual backpacking packing list/pack check.
