Wednesday Jan 16, 2013 Our troop is so crazy, it drives some guys to climb the walls! At Planet Granite in Belmont, that is. This time we had a baker’s dozen Scouts, plus a half-dozen parents to help as belayers climbing all over the place for more than two hours.
Thanks to the efforts of Ms. Ballinger, we met a little before 7:00 pm to get our liability waivers signed — death defying feats indeed! — and to get our climbing shoes and harnesses on. Then it was off to the Bouldering Room to get the safety speech and to practice some difficult low climbs over a lot of good padding while we waited for our turns to be belayed up the larger walls.
And those walls are big. Some routes are up to 50’ high! That’s like being Spider-Man climbing up the outside of a five story building. Luckily, you’ve got a ‘web’ attached in case of any slip ups. How’s the view from up there, guys?
