Trip Summary: We met at the library at 4:00 and we arranged our carpools to head out on our journey. We arrived at the park at about 6:00 or 6:30-ish, split up troop gear, grabbed our head lamps and walked under the stars to the first stop of the treacherous hike. We set up camp there and fell asleep after eating some salami and crackers. We broke camp and set off on the longest part of the hike, down to the china hole, which was bone dry, and then we hiked back up to the second campsite, over 2,500 feet of elevation difference was hiked that day… 1,200 of those feet were in the last 1.7 miles… that was the longest 1.7 miles I have ever hiked in my life. So we set up at the backpacking camp and ate our freeze dried dinner with pudding-in-a-bag for desert, it was awesome. So then we hiked back to the china hole using the dry river bed that still had little puddles along the way. From the china hole we went back up the parking lot and went home.
