First Aid Campout 3/22-3/23

Scouts arrived at the library early in the morning on Saturday, March 22nd. They arrived at the campsite at around 10:00am and then started the First Aid activities at around 10:45am. They went over life threatening injuries and how to do CPR. Scouts were then able to practice CPR (and rescue breathes) themselves, on CPR dummies.

In the afternoon, Scouts went over some basic first aid skills, first aid skills related to temperature and animal bites/stings, and one and two person carries. They took breaks between instructional portions and played fun games and activities like cornhole.

After dinner, Sunaina and Neha led a campfire where scouts played charades, answered First Aid trivia, and acted out skits. A night hike was planned, however the clear, audible presence of coyotes canceled those plans. In the morning, Scouts woke up, made breakfast, and then packed up camp. There was a flag ceremony and then everyone went on the canceled night hike, which now turned into a day hike. Scouts left after their hike, at around noon. Overall, the trip was pretty good. Most scouts got several requirements signed off and they were all able to learn new, useful first aid skills.
