Return late afternoon Sunday

On Friday, we arrived at the trailhead ready to take on the four miles ahead of us, not really knowing what to expect. After about a mile downhill, it turned out that the rest of the hike was pretty much a climb (2,302 feet). Our destination, Glacier lake, was a beautiful spot to relax and camp at. A couple people went in for a dip, while the rest of us were out exploring the nearby snow or skipping rocks. For dinner we experimented with a chicken and rice meal… and it turned out okay. We set off the next morning on our main stretch: 11 miles and about one thousand feet to climb. It definitely was a challenge trying to keep up the pace and trying to navigate through the obscured trail. The scenery was breathtaking, and it made it mostly worth it. Most of us made it through to the end, and sitting down at our campsite at the end of the day basically felt like heaven. Even the freeze-dried food by the fire felt like a four-star restaurant. There was also chocolate pudding that was made in a garbage bag, which tasted much better than it looked. We left the next morning on our final three miles, and it went fairly fast because we were all excited to finally reach the end. Of course there was a final climb, too, right before we got to the parking lot. And of course, right as we arrived, Mr. Pallas arrived in his car and it started raining. (written by Austin)
