Where? Ryder Park, 1801 J. Hart Clinton Drive, San Mateo, 94401
(East 3rd Ave along the shoreline)
Parking: Seal Point Park Parking Lot (pedestrian access to Ryder Park by crossing over pedestrian cable bridge) and St. Timothy’s Parking Lot (pedestrian access to Ryder Park by Peck Avenue and Ryder Street)
What to Wear & Materials: Wear old clothing and sturdy shoes. Bring gloves, if possible (gloves and trash bags will be provided if you cannot bring your own).
Volunteers will pick up debris and litter along the Bayfront Trail, Marina Lagoon, and Tidelands Park.
In 2015 more than 1,000 volunteers collected five tons of litter and close to 6,000 pounds of recycling from our shoreline, lagoon, and San Mateo Creek. We are hoping for even more volunteers in 2015! The highlight of the event each year is the “Catch of the Day” where volunteers get to show off their most “unusual” finds. Be prepared to get dirty, have a good time, and help the environment!
Highlights
- Prizes for “Butts Out Contest” (most cigarette butts collected)
- Prizes for “Catch of the Day” (most unusual litter!)
