Troop Trail to First Class Camp is an opportunity for Scouts not yet at First Class rank to gain valuable requirements sign-offs and Scouts beyond First Class to teach and lead. It’s also a good opportunity to camp, cook and have fun.
We’ll be focusing on the advancement requirements which lend themselves to a camping trip, such as:
– Choosing tent site
– Tools use and care
– Firewood preparation & firelighting (fire restrictions permitting)
– 5 mile hike with map & compass
– Cooking
– Knots & Lashings
– Kitchen clean-up
– Flag etiquette and ceremonies
– Stove use
– Finding direction without a compass
Event Details:
– Open to T175 and T4175 Scouts and registered adult leaders.
– Leaving from FC Library at 4.30 PM (meet at 4pm) Friday September 24.
– 2 nights.
– Covid safety rules as per Wente (masks indoors, & outdoors if distancing not maintained; vaccinated or tested; 2 per 4 person tent when vaccinated, unvaccinated Scouts tent in single person tents. Health questionnaire before departure.
– Carpooling with siblings or keeping vaccinated/unvaccinated Scouts separate. Masks in cars.

Signups will close on Friday September 3 to allow 3 weeks for patrols to plan food and equipment prior to the campout,
