When:12/14/13
Where: San Francisco
Location: San Francisco, Twin Peaks, Mt Sutro, Haight-Ashbury, et al.
Trip Summary: First we went to Daly City and took BART to Glen Park. We walked to Glen Canyon park. The trails weren’t well marked and we backtracked several times and climbed out of the canyon at the wrong point.
From there we went to Twin Peaks and climbed all the way to the top of both peaks. We saw a great view of San Francisco from the top. We took our first break at the top of the peaks and watched tourist buses pass below us.
We climbed up Mount Sutro after a walk past a reservoir and a tire swing. We heard a boy mimicking birds and responded in kind. On the way down we passed UCSF and walked on a thin concrete wall on the edge of the mountain.
For lunch, we went to a pizza place in the Haight-Ashbury. After lunch we walked up a tall hill. The slope was so steep, we couldn’t understand how a car could climb the street. We made it to the top of Tank Hill which had a rocky top with another great view of downtown.
Then we walked back up the street below Mount Sutro. We followed the road until a lagoon which was not very full and somewhat pretty.
We decided to skip Mount Davidson. Then we walked home and the walk home was arduous until we came to BART and then we went to Daly City and went home.
