Wilderness Survival & “Scout vs Wild”

When: Fri, Aug 18, 2017 – Sun, Aug 20, 2017

What:  Wilderness Survival & “Scout vs Wild”

Where:  Henry W Coe State Park – Group Camp G01

Adult Lead:  Mr Dickinson
Scout Lead: NEED A VOLUNTEER

The culmination of our ‘Wilderness Survival’ month.
An overnight camp to put into practice the skills we’ve learned and complete requirements for the Wilderness Survival merit badge.

* No match firelighting
* Emergency shelter building – spend the night in a shelter you’ve built.
* Signalling
* Water treatment

For the older Scouts: a special ‘Scout vs Wild’ challenge in the backcountry.

We’ll be leaving Foster City on Friday evening, spending the night camping as patrols in tents Friday night and working on shelters on Saturday, spending the night in the shelters (for those who want to) and heading back to Foster City on Sunday morning.

The campground is a short hike (~1.5 miles) from the parking lot so pack your personal gear into a large backpack. We can move tents and patrol gear in the two vehicles we’re allowed to bring to the campground.

Cost is $15 per person plus your patrols food and fuel costs.

More details as we get closer but feel free to ask questions.
