On the Class 3 Whitewater Rafting Trip, we started the day at the library, practically overflowing with excitement. After meeting at the flagpole, we loaded all of our gear into the different cars and vans, trying our best to squeeze everything in while making sure everyone had a place to sit. Once everything was packed and everyone was ready, we headed off, excited for the adventure ahead.
When we arrived at the campsite, we were earlier than expected, giving us plenty of time to get settled. We unpacked our gear, set up our tents, and prepared for the day. After changing into our swimsuits and putting on sunscreen, we walked up to the bathrooms, where the outfitters met us. From there, we loaded onto buses that took us down to the rafting area. Once we arrived, we were given helmets and life jackets and listened to an important safety briefing so everyone knew how to stay safe while having a great time on the river.
We then split into our respective boats, with about five boats in total. Once everyone was ready, we pushed off and began our adventure! The early rapids before lunch gave us a taste of what was to come. We were tossed around quite a bit, but that only made the experience more exciting. Everyone was laughing, shouting, and enjoying the thrill of riding through the rapids together.
Eventually, it was time for lunch. We docked the boats and walked up to the eating area, where we were served burgers and chips. Although the burgers were ready a little later than expected, everyone was more than happy to dig in once they arrived. After finishing our meals, we reapplied sunscreen and got ready to head back onto the river.
The second half of the rafting trip was even more exciting. We tackled the Class 3 rapids, getting thrown and bounced around as the boats rushed through the waves. The challenging rapids made the afternoon even more thrilling and gave everyone plenty of memorable moments. After we finished the major rapids, we tied all of the boats together and were towed back to the dock by a jet ski. During the tow, we were able to relax in our boats, talk with each other, and enjoy the scenery after an exciting afternoon on the river.
When we reached the dock, we gathered our belongings and returned our helmets and life jackets. We then walked over to the bus, where we were given a free Pepsi. On the ride back, we enjoyed our drinks and talked about all of the crazy and memorable moments from the rafting trip.
Once we returned to the campsite, we grabbed our clothes and headed to the showers. After spending so much time in the river, it felt great to wash off and get cleaned up. Once everyone was ready, we began preparing dinner. Each patrol cooked and cleaned together, and everyone enjoyed a great meal, with some patrols even having dessert afterward.
After dinner, we got ready for the campfire, which was led by Saanvi. We watched and participated in a variety of hilarious and entertaining skits. The campfire gave everyone a chance to relax, laugh together, and enjoy each other’s company after such a busy day. Eventually, we headed back to our tents and went to sleep, reflecting on everything we had experienced.
The next morning, we woke up and started preparing breakfast. We enjoyed another great meal before getting ready to head home. Once breakfast was finished, we cleaned everything up, packed our gear, and began the camp sweep. We went through the campsite carefully and completed the sweep without any issues. Afterward, we gathered together for roses and thorns, where everyone shared their favorite parts of the trip and things they thought could have gone better.
Once we finished roses and thorns, we waited for the adults to finish getting ready before loading back into the cars. As is tradition for our troop, we stopped at In-N-Out on the way home. Everyone enjoyed a hearty lunch and talked about the trip before we continued back to the library. When we arrived, we unloaded our gear and officially ended the trip.
Overall, the Class 3 Whitewater Rafting Trip was an incredible experience. From being tossed around in the rapids to relaxing around camp, sharing meals, performing skits, and spending time with everyone, the trip was filled with unforgettable moments. It was an adventure full of excitement, laughter, and memories that I will definitely remember for a long time.
