We woke up early in the morning and got ready for our service project supporting our sponsor, Rotary. When we arrived, we signed in and immediately got to work preparing the area for the event. We began by setting up tables and chairs for the guests who would be coming to enjoy breakfast. While some of us worked on the seating area, others helped set up the tents where food, drinks, and other supplies would be served.
Once everything was ready and the guests began arriving, we split up into different jobs to help the event run smoothly. Some of us worked at the trash, recycling, and compost bins, helping guests figure out where to properly dispose of their waste so that everything could be sorted correctly. Others worked at the drinks station, making sure guests could grab a drink after getting their pancakes.
As the breakfast continued, we stayed busy and helped wherever we were needed. Near the end of the serving period, we walked around offering drinks to guests and picking up trash that had been left behind. Although these tasks may have seemed small, they helped keep the event organized and the area clean, making the experience more enjoyable for everyone attending.
After the guests finished eating, it was time for cleanup. We gathered trash, removed tablecloths, and folded up the tables and chairs so they could be stored away. We also took down the tents and helped clean the surrounding area. A huge thank you goes to Kasey, one of the cadets, who took time out of his day to come and help us with the service project. His help made the cleanup and other tasks easier for everyone.
Once we had finished our part of the cleanup, we waited for Rotary to finish using the pancake equipment. After they were done, we helped transport the stoves, tables, chairs, and other equipment across the street to the library, where everything was stored. Moving all of the equipment was definitely a bit of a workout, but working together as a team made the job go by quickly.
Finally, once everything had been put away and the area was completely cleaned up, we signed out and headed home. Overall, the Rotary Pancake Breakfast was a great service project. We were able to support our sponsor, give back to the community, and work together as a troop to help make sure the event ran smoothly. It was an early morning, but it was definitely worth it to contribute to the community and help make the event a success.
